1 BALL BEARINGS
With more than ninety years of manufacturing expertise in ball bearings, NTN offers one of the industry’s widest arrays of products to fit your application.
Our ball bearings are available to you off-the-shelf, in sizes ranging from 10 mm to 320 mm outside diameters. And with a
virtually limitless variety of configurations of seals, shields, lubricants, internal clearances, and cage designs, there’s no reason to go anywhere else for your ball bearing needs.
2 TAPERED ROLLER BEARINGS
Tapered roller bearings utilize conical rollers and raceways, arranged so that the rollers and raceways meet at a common apex.The rollers are guided by contact between the large end of the roller and a rib on the inner ring. This provides high capacity for radial and single thrust loads.

We offer premium tapered roller bearings under the NTN and Bower® brand names. Most NTN and all Bower® tapered roller
bearings feature case-carburized components. Cups, cones, and rollers are made from case-hardened alloy steel of “Bearing
Quality” to provide superior fatigue life and reliability. Precise control of heat treatment, dimensions, and surface finish of thecomponents further contribute to reliable bearing performance. So whether you’re looking for an American-made, case-carburized inch series taper, or a metric series through-hardened variety, we have you covered with a proper fit for your application. Premium steels and heat treatments are also available for applications requiring extended life and high reliability.
SPECIAL ROLLER CROWNING
NTN’s pioneering efforts in developing crowned rollers have resulted in greater load-carrying capability and longer bearing life.
Crowned rollers under load distribute stress equally along their full length of contact with the raceways, thereby eliminating stress concentration at the roller ends. This design concept also compensates for minor misalignment between shaft and housing bore and deflection under load, thereby reducing stress concentration.
3 CYLINDRICAL ROLLER BEARINGS
Cylindrical roller bearings have rollers that provide a modified line contact with the cylindrical inner and outer ring raceways,while the rollers are guided by ground ribs on either the inner or outer ring. The cylindrical shape allows the inner ring to have axial movement relative to the outer ring. This is especially important when accommodating thermal expansion, where both rings must be press-fitted.

AS HEAT TREATMENT
NTN’s Austenite Strengthening process (AS) is a special heat treatment applied to the rolling elements. By chemically altering the surface chemistry of the roller, NTN is able to create a thin layer of retained Austenite that results in compressive stresses that increase bearing life. AS Treatment alone results in a material life multiplier of 1.5. When used in conjunction with TMB,that life multiplier increases to 3.6.
HL SURFACE TREATMENT
NTN’s unique micro-pitting surface finish increases bearing life in applications with insufficient lubrication.
Based on the theory that oil film formation in bearing contact areas can be improved by changing the character and direction of the components’ surface finishes, the distinguishing micro pots are able to effectively capture and channel oil to where it’s needed.
HIGH CAPACITY SEPARATOR
NTN has developed technology that combines the high load capacity of a full complement bearing with the high rotational
speed capabilities of a caged design. By placing a resin rolling element separator between the rollers, NTN can keep the same number of rollers as a full complement design and prevent roller contact to reduce friction and heat generation. By optimizing the shape and guidance method of the separators, allowable speeds can be achieved that are equivalent to those for bearings with cages.
4 SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARINGS
DESIGNED TO BEAR THE UNBEARABLE
Spherical roller bearings are dedicated to extremely severe applications and must support high loads, severe misalignment,
contaminated environments, shocks, and vibrations. And with the industry’s highest load rating and production coming from a factory near you, there’s no reason to look anywhere else for spherical roller bearings.
THE INDUSTRY’S HIGHEST LOAD RATING
NTN-SNR sphericals feature the industry’s highest load rating: a full 18% higher than a standard spherical roller bearing. This level of quality means at least a 75% extension of service life. The performance of these sphericals is achieved through the use of very high quality raw materials and optimized rolling element geometry. The unique design also leads to:
Reduced friction torque (as much as 30% less), offering lower operating temperature, with lower power and lubricant
Appreciably increased operating speed, allowing an extended scope of applications.
High temperature capacity of up to 200°C (392°F) for metallic cage bearings. Dimensional stability is ensured by a specific heat treatment.A 0.5° misalignment capability, without reducing the load capacity, and up to 1° 30’ in case of low loads.

Industria Cuscinetti S.P.A. (ISCA) is an Italian bearing factory that was set up as a joint venture between four bearing
manufacturers, including NTN and our SNR partner brand. NTN and SNR are the majority user of ISCA’s capacity and sells the largest share of the plant’s production. That means that, even if you’ve been using spherical roller bearings from some of our competitors, it could be the same bearing made in the same plant and same equipment as what NTN offers.
5 NEEDLE ROLLER BEARINGS
Needle bearings feature a smaller cross-section, higher load-carrying capacity, greater rigidity, and lower inertia forces that facilitate size and weight reductions in machinery. They’re designed to withstand oscillation, perform under severe conditions,and interchange with sliding bearings.
Diverse types of needle bearings are available in a wide variety of sizes and tolerances, for a multitude of applications.Needle roller and cage assemblies are offered in single or double row, solid or split cage, metric and inch sizes; as well as in connecting rod bearings for special applications.Single and double row bearings are available with or without ribs, and with or without inner rings.Thrust bearings are offered in single row roller and cage assemblies.Yoke and stud type track rollers are also available.

NTN's Sentinel Series is a premium line of stainless steel bearings and bearing units featuring food-grade solid lube with
covers. The Sentinel line is designed for maintenance-free, washdown-resistant product lines in food and beverage applications.
NTN's flagship line is designed specifically to decrease downtime and increase profitability.
All Sentinel Series products have 100% stainless steel inserts and ball bearings filled with H1 food-grade solid lube. The
Sentinel line requires no maintenance for the life of the bearing- simply install and start saving time and money.
Food-grade solid lube is a polymer impregnated with H1 food-safe oil, which helps prevent lubricant washout. Oil is stored in a porous solid material that acts like a sponge and releases the necessary base oil to lubricated the components as it rotates. The entirety of the Sentinel Series line come standard with protective covers (caps) for units that provide additional protection against contaminants and moisture, while adding additional safety for maintenance personnel.
The Sentinel Series offers both stainless steel housings and thermoplastic housings.
NTN’s Ultra-ClassTM mounted unit line is the original solid base offering in our mounted bearing unit portfolio. It symbolizes our commitment to performance and reliability.
Featuring NTN’s exclusive ball-point set screw design, the Ultra-Class™ black-oxide plated insert provides 120° screw
orientation to provide superior alignment and centering, compared to typical 90° configurations. The semi-retractable, ball-point mechanism means excellent tightening torque characteristics without damage to the shaft-mounting surface.
Protection in both wet and dry particle environments is paramount when selecting a mounted unit solution, and the Ultra-
Class™ series is up to the task, allowing for usage even in food-grade environments. Using a combined elastomeric seal in
tandem with NTN’s outer flinger design, each mounted unit exhibits a fan-like mechanism that keeps particles from getting
near the inner ball bearing and raceways.
The NTN Stainless Steel and Thermoplastic series of mounted units offer optimum performance for food-grade and related
environments, with a strong focus on protection from oxidation, mold, bacteria, and chemical cleaning agents. Mounted-unit
inserts have a stainless steel composition designed to withstand the aggressive cleaning and corrosive environments found
within the food-processing industry.
The Corrosion Resistant series offers similar solid-base construction to the NTN Ultra-Class™ line, meaning excellent mount stability and impact resistance. Mounted-unit solutions are available in a wide array of configurations, including pillow block and two- or four-bolt flange styles. Protective endcaps can be ordered for additional protection, and are available in both Stainless Steel and Thermoplastic configurations.
Corrosion Resistant units feature USDA H1 grade grease, as well as a stainless steel bearing-unit insert composition that offers exceptional humidity resistance. NTN also offers solid-grade equivalent greases for higher temperature applications.
HEAVY-DUTY MOUNTED UNIT SERIES
NTN provides several heavy-duty mounted units designed specifically to accommodate the rigors of applications within
construction, mining, and other large-scale equipment applications. NTN’s two-part bearing housings, such as those found in the SAF series, offer a heavy-duty solution that simplifies mounting of maintenance of the units. Combined with precision-made, self-aligning roller bearings, these units offer significant benefits in terms of service life and running behavior. With a variety of sealing systems available, the two-part bearing-housing set-up provides a versatile, modular approach to mounted- unit design, offering technically and economically viable solutions for almost any application.
Where sealing is paramount in heavy-duty applications, NTN also offers a sealed-unit approach that provides even more
protection than that found with the two-part series. Series such as the SPW and SFCW product lines feature a sealed spherical bearing that offers corrosion protection in these environments. The single-piece housing offers solid composition, which ensures excellent mechanical integrity and shock stability.

8 CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINTS
NTN started production of constant velocity joints (CVJs) in Japan in 1963. In 2007, the number of CVJs produced on a
cumulative basis surpassed 400 million units. Following aggressive expansion of production worldwide in the 1990s, we now
have a strong base of operations to respond to the global sourcing needs of the automotive industry. These operations are
supported by a trilateral development system covering the three key regions of the Americas, Japan and Europe. A production and sales system encompassing these three regions has expanded to include China and other parts of Asia.
WE MANUFACTURE WHERE WE SELL
Since 1991, NTN has been producing American-made CVJs at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Columbus, Indiana.
This plant has been recognized for environmental stewardship by the government of Indiana and is a zero-landfill operation.We’ve continued to expand our global presence with more than 18 CVJ plants around the world.
TECHNOLOGY FOR ECOLOGY
When it comes to manufacturing CVJs for automotive use, performance demands are depend on the type of joint and the
location in which they will be used. So, at NTN, we develop special, environmentally conscious, lead-free grease for each type of CVJ and each differing application, so that each one of our joints can operate at its highest level.
Furthermore, as a pioneer in constant velocity joints, we’ve held ourselves to high environmental standards. NTN has answered the demand for lighter, more compact, and higher performance products to reduce fuel consumption. We’ve also provided environmentally considerate products that strictly adhere to both domestic and international environmental standards.
TECHNOLOGY FOR COMFORT
The vibration generated during the operation of automobiles is influenced by shudder characteristics of sliding CVJs, such as induced thrust and slide resistance. At NTN, we have developed epoch-making, tripod-type sliding CVJs that boast the world's largest operating angle of 30° and decrease the shudder value by 50% or more, compared with conventional, low-vibration CVJs. We also offer a diverse lineup to make these joints applicable for an even greater array of automobiles.
By effectively employing our advanced low-vibration technology, NTN is further enhancing products that greatly improve each vehicle's NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness).
9 WHEEL HUBS
Hub bearings are becoming more and more unitized, with the number of parts decreasing from the first-generation to the third (GEN3), and evolving into lightweight, compact products. NTN now mass-produces GEN3 hub bearings on a global scale to deliver diverse generations of hub bearings to automobile manufacturers worldwide.

Our hub bearings incorporate a sealed-type construction to deliver a sensor-integrated hub bearing. This design helps to
prevent damage, corrosion, and adhesion of iron powders to the internal magnetizing encoder and the sensor probe–and makes our ABS sensors all the more reliable.
NTN satisfies more than 30% of the demand for North American OE vehicle production from NTN’s Elgin, Illinois plant. The
Elgin plant is the largest manufacturer of hub assemblies in North America, providing more product to OEMs and the
Aftermarket than any other single facility. This gives NTN the benefit in the Aftermarket of supplying highly-engineered
replacement parts that meet or exceed OE engineering specifications.
The Elgin, Illinois plant totals 670,000 square feet, has 36 high-volume automated assembly lines and employs a highly skilled workforce of more than 650 people.

Each repair kit was specially designed for the heavy duty truck aftermarket using OEM preferred products to bring exceptional value.

SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR HEAVY DUTY APPLICATION
We offer two types of differential kits to service the heavy duty truck industry.
Master differential kits save you significant time for a differential rebuild by incorporating all the necessary components in one box - All differential rebuild bearings, seals, gaskets, o-rings, sealant, and thread locker.
We also offer rebuilder versions of our master kits designated “V100”. These kits offer the same core components but exclude common pieces that differential rebuilders stock such as seals and o-rings. This offering provides a unique, environmentally friendly solution to your needs while saving you money.
