1 Ball Bearings

>>>>>Deep Groove Ball Bearings

NSK manufacture a full range of deep groove ball bearings. These bearings are the most common type and are used in a wide variety of applications.

1)Single-Row Deep Groove Ball Bearings

Pressed Steel Cages

Single-row deep groove ball bearings are the most common type of rolling bearings. Their use is very widespread.
In addition to open type bearings, these bearings often have steel shields or rubber seals installed on one or both sides and are prelubricated with grease. Also, snap rings are sometimes used on the periphery. As to cages, pressed steel ones are the most common.For big deep groove ball bearings, machined brass cages are used.Machined cages are also used for high speed applications.

2)Extra Small Ball Bearings and Miniature Ball Bearings

Miniature and instrument ball bearings can be divided into two basic types, deep groove and angular contact. The first (deep groove) can be further divided into the following five classes depending on their design details:

Standard type
Flanged outer ring
Extended inner ring
Expanded type in which one ring has a radial thickness that is larger than normal compared with the bearing width.
Thin section type in which both rings are extra thin in the radial direction. They can also be classified as: open, shielded, or sealed.

3)Maximum-Type Ball Bearings

Maximum-Type ball Bearings contain a larger number of balls than normal deep groove ball bearings because of filling slots in the inner and outer rings. Because of their filling slots, they are not suitable for applications with high axial loads. BL2 and BL3 types of bearings have boundary dimensions equal to those of single-row deep groove ball bearings of Series 62 and 63 respectively. Besides the open type, ZZ type shielded bearings are also available. When using these bearings, it is important for the filling slot in the outer ring to be outside of the loaded zone as much as possible. Their cages are pressed steel.

4)Magneto Bearings

The inner groove of magneto bearings is a little shallower than that of deep groove bearings. Since the outer ring has a shoulder on only one side, the outer ring may be removed. This is often advantageous for mounting. In general, two such bearings are used in duplex pairs. Magneto bearings are small bearings with a bore diameter of 4 to 20 mm and are mainly used for small magnetos, gyroscopes, instruments, etc. Pressed brass cages are generally used.

>>>>>Angular Contact Ball Bearings

The NSK range of angular contact ball bearings has been designed to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of original equipment manufacturers. These bearings have a contact angle so that they can sustain significant axial loads in one direction together with radial loads. Furthermore, since an axial component is generated when a radial load is applied, these bearings are generally used in pairs, triplex sets, quadruplex sets, or multiplex sets. NSK offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of angular contact ball bearings available.

>>>>>Self-Aligning Ball Bearings

This type of ball bearing is recommended when alignment of the shaft and housing is difficult and the shaft may flex. The outer ring has a spherical raceway and its center of curvature coincides with that of the bearing; therefore, the axis of the inner ring, balls and cage can deflect to some extent around the bearing center. Pressed steel cages are usually used. Since the contact angle is small, the axial load capacity is low. The permissible dynamic misalignment is approximately 0.07 to 0.12 radian (4 to 7 degrees) under normal loads.

However, depending on the surrounding structure, such an angle may not be possible.

>>>>>Thrust Ball Bearings

Thrust ball bearings are classified into those with flat seats or aligning seats depending on the shape of the outer ring seat (housing washer). They can sustain axial loads but no radial loads. For Single-Direction Thrust Ball Bearings, pressed steel cages and machined brass cages are usually used The cages in Double- Direction Thrust Ball Bearings are the same as those in Single-Direction Thrust Ball Bearings of the same diameter series.

>>>>>N Series Thin-Section Ball Bearings Metric and Inch Designs

2 Roller Bearings

1)Cylindrical Roller Bearings

In bearings of this type, the cylindrical rollers are in linear contact with the raceways. They have a high radial load capacity and are suitable for high speeds.

There are different types designated as NU, NJ, NUP, N, NF (for single-row bearings), NNU, and NN (for double-row bearings depending on the design or absence of side ribs).

The outer and inner rings of all types are separable.

Some cylindrical roller bearings have no ribs on either the inner or outer ring, so the rings can move axially relative to each other. These can be used as free-end bearings. Cylindrical roller bearings, in which either the inner or outer rings has two ribs and the other ring has one, are capable of taking some axial load in one direction Double-row cylindrical roller bearings have high radial rigidity and are used primarily for precision machine tools.

Pressed steel or machined brass cages are generally used, but sometimes molded polyamide cages are also used.Depending on the existence of ribs on their rings, Cylindrical Roller Bearings are classified into the following types:Types NU, N, NNU, and NN are suitable as free-end bearings.

Types NJ and NF can sustain limited axial loads in one direction. Types NH and NUP can be used as fixed-end bearings.NH-type cylindrical roller bearings consist of the NJ-type cylindrical roller bearings and HJ-type L-shaped thrust collars.

The inner ring loose rib of an NUP-type cylindrical roller bearing should be mounted so that the marked side is on the outside.

>>>>>Cylindrical Roller Bearings (Pressed Steel Cages) NSK has high load rating "EW Series"

>>>>>Full-complement Cylindrical Roller Bearings

Cageless, full-complement cylindrical roller bearings have the maximum possible number of rollers and can sustain much heavier loads than cylindrical roller bearings of the same size with cages. On the other hand, high-speed capability is inferior to the bearings with cages.
The open-type single- and double-row bearings are mostly used in general industrial applications at low speed and under heavy load, and the shielded-type double-row bearings are often used in crane sheaves.

>>>>>Cylindrical Roller Bearings for Sheaves

Features

Improved seal: Contact seal increases resistance to entry of water or foreign substances.
High load capacity: When used as a sheave bearing, radial and axial load capacities are increased
Corrosion resistance: Phosphate surface treatment improves resistance to rust.
Easy to apply grease: Holes provided on inner ring facilitate grease replenishment, even while the bearing is mounted.
Fewer surrounding parts: With snap rings for the outer ring, fewer parts are required around the bearing for a more cost-effective sheave.

2)Tapered Roller Bearings


Bearings of this type use conical rollers guided by a back-face rib on the cone. These bearings are capable of taking high radial loads and axial loads in one direction.

In the HR series, the rollers are increased in both size and number giving it an even higher load capacity. They are generally mounted in pairs in a manner similar to single-row angular contact ball bearings. In this case, the proper internal clearance can be obtained by adjusting the axial distance between the cones or cups of the two opposed bearings. Since they are separable, the cone assemblies and cups can be mounted independently.

Depending upon the contact angle, tapered roller bearings are divided into three types; normal angle, medium angle, and steep angle.

Double-row and four-row tapered roller bearings are also available. Pressed steel cages are generally used.

>>>>>Metric Design Tapered Roller Bearings

For metric-design medium-angle and steep-angle tapered roller bearings, the respective contact angle symbol C or D is added after the bore number. For normal-angle tapered roller bearings, no contact angle symbol is used. Medium-angle tapered roller bearings are primarily used for the pinion shafts of differential gears of automobiles. Among those with high load capacity (HR series), some bearings have the basic number suffixed by J to conform to the specifications of ISO for the cup back face raceway diameter, cup width, and contact angle. Therefore, the cone assembly and cup of bearings with the same basic number suffixed by J are internationally interchangeable. Among metric-design tapered roller bearings specified by ISO 355, there are those having new dimensions that are different than the dimension series 3XX used in the past. Part of them are listed in the bearing tables. They conform to the specifications of ISO for the smaller end diameter of the cup and contact angle. The cone and cup assemblies are internationally interchangeable. The bearing number formulation, which is different than that for past metric design

>>>>>Inch Design Tapered Roller Bearings

Besides metric design tapered roller bearings, there are also inch design bearings. For the cone assemblies and cups of inch design bearings, except four-row tapered roller bearings, the bearing numbers are approximately formulated.

3)Spherical Roller Bearings

Shown in the figures, types EA, C, CD, CA, which are designed for high load capacity, are available. Types EA, C, and CD have pressed steel cages; and type CA has machined brass cages. Type EA has especially high load capacity, features low torque, and has a high-strength cage.

An oil groove and holes are provided in the outer ring to supply lubricant and the bearing numbers are suffixed with E4.

To use bearings with oil grooves and holes, it is recommended to provide an oil groove in the housing bore, since the depth of the groove in the bearing is limited.

4)Thrust Roller Bearings

Available with cylindrical or spherical rollers, NSK's thrust roller bearings sustain only axial loads, but they are suitable for heavy loads and have high axial rigidity. Spherical thrust roller bearings contain convex rollers and have a self- aligning capability and are free of any influence of mounting error or shaft deflection. Standard cages are machined brass, where the E-type offers a pressed cage for high load capacity.

>>>>>Thrust Cylindrical Roller Bearings

These are thrust bearings containing cylindrical rollers. They can sustain only axial loads, but they are suitable for heavy loads and have high axial rigidity.The cages are machined brass.

>>>>>>Thrust Spherical Roller Bearings

These are thrust bearings containing convex rollers. They have a self-aligning capability and are free of any influence of mounting error or shaft deflection. Besides the original type, the E type with pressed cages for high load capacity is also available. Their bearing numbers are suffixed by E.
For horizontal shaft or high speed application, machined brass cages are recommended. For details, contact NSK. Since there are several places where lubrication is difficult, such as the area between the roller heads and inner ring rib, the sliding surfaces between cage and guide sleeve, etc., oil lubrication should be used even at low speed. The cages in the original type are machined brass.

5)Needle Roller Bearings

Needle roller bearings are a bearing that is classified as either radial or thrust depending on the direction of the load being supported. Needle roller bearings include bearings whose rollers slightly exceed the size range of needle rollers as stipulated by ISO. Needle roller bearings include drawn cup and solid radial bearings, as well as application-specific cam followers, and roller followers. Thrust bearings include thrust needle bearings.

>>>>>Cage & Needle Roller Assemblies

NSK cage & Needle roller assemblies consist of a complement of needle rollers held in place by a cage. Their unitized design makes for easy handling and installation. With no inner or outer ring, the low cross-section provides maximum load-carrying capability within the smallest envelope.
Properly lubricated, they can operate at high speeds thanks to the unique cage, which guides the rollers precisely. The controlled contour rollers in cage & Needle roller assemblies have an optimum profile which reduces end stresses, allows operation under moderate misalignment and prolongs bearing life.

>>>>>Drawn Cup Needle Roller Bearings

NSK drawn cup needle roller bearings (with a cage and full complement of rollers) have a unique outer ring structure. They have the following features: the thinnest outer ring among rolling bearings, high load capacity, high maximum permissive load owing to the use of carefully selected special alloy steel plates, a surface-hardened cage with high resistance to wear, high limiting speed, and ease of mounting.

>>>>>Solid Needle Roller Bearings

Solid needle roller bearings are high-accuracy bearings with maximum load capacity within a limited space for various operating conditions. Made of carefully selected vacuum-degassed bearing steel or carburizing steel, the raceway rings are finished with accurate grinding after heat treatment. The outer rings have strong integrated ribs and contain high-accuracy rollers that have the proper crowning finish. Lightweight and extremely strong, the cage guides the rollers accurately and smoothly.

>>>>>Thrust Needle Roller Bearings

Thrust needle bearings type comes in metric and inch designs. The cage & Needle roller assembly for the thrust needle bearing is a cage that has two pieces joined together, to which surface hardening is applied after the precision press processing of a steel plate, and in which high accuracy rollers are incorporated, in order to achieve rigidity and wear resistance. Many rollers are retained securely in the cage, taking large axial load, and yet rotating smoothly. Mounting space is so small that it is easy to replace a conventional sliding thrust washer. Different thicknesses of various types of thrust raceway washers are available in this cage & Needle roller assembly, which allows selection of the appropriate thickness suited for bearing peripheral mounting conditions.

>>>>>Cam Followers

Cam followers, which are equipped with a thick-wall outer ring, crowned rollers, and a stud with a hardened raceway surface, are especially tough and can sustain shock loads

>>>>>Roller Followers

The roller follower with a thick-wall outer ring and crowned roller has a large load capacity which enables it to carry shock loads. Handling is easy since it it non-separating and applications such as track rollers, cams and rocker arms are wide.

3 Bearing Units

1)Plummer Blocks

To ensure effective sealing, plummer blocks are available with a variety of special sealing options and end covers. Benefits include a facility for easy mounting and dismounting of pre-assembled shafts.

Plummer block housings can be used with high-capacity spherical roller bearings or self-aligning ball bearings. They are manufactured from high-strength cast iron as standard but are also available in cast steel or spheroidal graphite cast iron. The housings have a re-lubrication facility and can be used with either oil or grease lubrication.

>>>>>Standard Type Plummer Blocks

SN5 and SN6 types are the most common type, which are provided for in JIS B 1551, ISO 113/II, and DIN736, 737. SN30 and SN31 types are medium size and their shaft diameters are bigger than that of SN5 and SN6 types. For these types, a bearing is mounted with the use of an adapter.

>>>>>Large Plummer Blocks

These are large size and for heavy-duty application. They have dual structure oil seals. For these types, a bearing is mounted with the use of an adapter.

>>>>>Dustproof Plummer Blocks

This is a dustproof type, and this was developed by NSK. It has a combination of oil seals, labyrinth seals, and oil groove seals; therefore, it is suitable for environments with dust and other foreign matters.For this type, a bearing is mounted with the use of an adapter.

>>>>>Stepped-Shaft Type Plummer Blocks

SN2C and SN3C are the types that the bore diameter of one side is smaller than that of SNa2 and SN3 respectively, and they are provided for in JIS B 1551. For these types, a bearing is mounted with the use of a nut and washer.

2)Ball Bearing Units

The NSK bearing unit is a combination of a radial ball bearing, seal, and a housing of high-grade cast iron or pressed steel, which comes in various shapes. The outer surface of the bearing and the internal surface of the housing are spherical, so that the unit is self-aligning. The inside construction of the ball bearing for the unit is such that steel balls and retainers of the same type as in series 62 and 63 of the deep groove ball bearing are used. A duplex seal consisting of a combination of an oil-proof synthetic rubber seal and a slinger is provided on both sides.

>>>>>Pillow Blocks

Pillow blocks with bearings mounted in rigid housings of simple construction are the most common bearing units. They are extensively used for various kinds of transmission equipment and machinery.

>>>>>Square Flanged Units

These bearing housings have square flange which can be easily attached to a machine with four bolts.With its simple mounting face, this bearing unit is widely used.

>>>>>Oval Flanged Units

These bearing housings have oval flanges which can be easily installed onto a machine with two bolts.This type of bearing unit is suitable where mounting space is limited or where it is necessary to minimize the distance between shafts. The distance between bolt holes of an oval flange type is generally equal to the distance between bolt holes diagonal position of square flange type.

>>>>>Ball Bearings Set Screw Type

This is the special bearing, designed for bearing units. There are many types according to installation ways etc. Please refer to NSK Ball bearing units catalog or handbook, in detail.

1)Super Precision Angular Contact Ball Bearings
